16/04/2005 – Last Day of Recording Session

I finally arrived at AR Studios, with two days to record all vocals of an album that had consumed me a band and four years of total dedication, it was not an easy task. The material is sounding great, I’m sure we will have an amazing album in our hands, It was the least I could have done to sing these songs, I knew so well after all this time and effort. Yesterday I’ve spoke with Roy Z, he said he cannot mix the album, because he will be working on the new Judas Priest album, sad news, I need to find someone else to work now.

18/04/2005 – Mixing the Album.

kiko Loureiro and I had a chat by e-mail, he told me that Dennis Ward would be a really good guy to mix the album. I didn’t have Dennis’ contact details, so while kiko was there mixing his solo album, I could contact him via Kiko. Hours later, Dennis and I already exchanged various e-mails about the mix. He’s a great guy and very professional, the kind of person I like.I Knew that it would be a good partnership .we scheduled the mix sessions for May, when he would be finished on kiko’s album.

10/05/2005 – Cover Idea.

After speaking with Brazilians and international graphic artists, I met Gustavo Sazes. He was one of the last guys I’ve spoke to. He seemed to be a very nice guy, that made me take a risk on him. I gave him, the central idea of the cover of the album, and in a really trustable way he said, “Ok, I’ll send it back to you in few days”. Honestly, I was a little bit apprehensive, because I choose to not work with some well know international artists to make this job with him, but how I don’t used to get back with my ideas, I decided to wait and see his sketch.

15/05/2005 – TheAnswer From The Orient.

Yesterday night, I went to sleep with hopes for an important e-mail. This morning my hopes came true. On my computer screen, an answer coming from Japan, a “Yes”, the country now, is the first (of many I hope), to license the Execution album. The mix session wasn’t finished in time; the negotiation was done with a few rough tracks, which gave me hope with the potential of the album, because it is not usual in the current music industry to sign an artist without a finished album. With this piracy that unfortunately destroys all culture around the globe, the Record labels don’t believe in new artists anymore. For that reason, they rarely close deals without listening the full album first preferably with the front cover.

17/05/2005 – Delivering Of The Artwork.

I’ve received the sketch from Gustavo Sazes with the front cover of the album. As soon as I opened it, I could see that was a wise decision to choose him. He was definitely the right guy for the job.

27/05/2005 – Partnerships in Brazil.

The album was already signed to record labels in several countries now, not a bad job for a 26 year old guy pretending to be a manager for the first time! But the Brazilian deal was still open. I had meeting with independents and major labels, but none of them, could understand my passion and efforts on this job. I just couldn’t trust in someone whom called my lifetime’s job a “Product with an X potential of sales” it was really driving me crazy. Then I decided to work in a different way; I wouldn’t look for a label in Brazil anymore, but for a distribution company. This way, I would retain control of my work and they couldn't do too much harm.
